Hi. This is Robert Stewart, with Hill13.com.
Another common mistake, especially new players make, especially on the rec ball fields walk-on
play, is a failure to communicate. You may not know anybody that you’re playing with
but you really ought to take a couple of minutes to introduce yourself and find out about their
experience. If you’re playing with a lot of people that are similar and haven’t played
before, you’re going to very quickly become a valuable member of that team for the day,
if you remember to communicate with the other people on your team. Even if you don’t know
their names, and you just are giving them information in front of you. You’re going
to be a more valuable member of that team because of it. So you have to remember and
we stressed it before, that good communication, even in, even in rec ball, becomes essential
to winning the game. One of the things you can do is stop and take a moment and look
at all of the people that you’re playing with, and look at what they’re wearing and try to
memorize that, so that you can tell your guys from the opposing team. Another thing to do
is tell everybody your name. It sounds simple I know, but if you don’t tell them your name,
“Hey You”, isn’t going to get your attention in the middle of a firefight.
